The real action in theatre and event design happens off the stage, we collaborate with designers, artists, directors, technician, actors, audience members and a great number of teams to grasp the wider concept of the performance. The process must be entered with an open mind and enthusiasm to work as a team, these are qualities which I possess and have strengthened through my BA (HONS)Theatre Design Degree at Nottingham Trent University - graduating with a first-class honours- and the publication of my book ‘Impact’ which won the creative writing category and overall Nottingham’s Young Creative of the Year 2016 Award. I aim to strengthen and test my knowledge within the full field of theatre and event design, gaining a wider experience in set design and making.
I have worked as Set and Costume designer and maker, for the touring production of ‘When They Go Low’ by Natalie Mitchell, taking part in the connections festival, 2018 held by the National Theatre London.
Along with entering and winning the Nottingham Playhouse Prize 2018 for my set and costume designs for ‘The Crucible’ by Arthur Miller.
Currently I am set and costume designer on ‘The Elf and the Shoemaker’ by Katherine Chandler, at the Nottingham Playhouse.
Throughout my projects, I do my best to accommodate audience members with disabilities. My models are built strong with texture, enabling touch tours to visually impaired members. Where I can I design captioning screens for hearing impaired members. My book has been printed on 12 different tints of coloured paper with large spacing and a clear front, which may help with dyslexic and visually impaired readers.
I have been invited to many events across the country to perform readings from my book including, The British Dyslexia Association Gala, London 2017, Bromley house library, Nottingham 2016, Dyslexia support group Sandel Library, Wakefield 2017, Preston 2017, Young Creative Awards 2018, Nottingham.
