Saskia Dixie is a self taught filmmaker who is driven by exploration and process with a clear direction in experimental filmmaking. She is currently focused on producing and directing short films, her latest work was created with the support of Channel 4, The Insitute of Contemporary Art and Dazed Magazine in conjunction with the Random Acts Platform. The work titled 'Captial of The C' recently aired on television broadcast.
Saskia works predominately with DV, VHS, 16mm and 8mm with a driving ambition to work with 35mm. She is inspired by low budget filmmaking and the texture and energy that it can illustrate. Her background as a classical ballet dancer has shaped her eye as a filmmaker and it is from this angle that she works with the camera- in a choreographic like sense, favouring long takes- movement is crucial to her narrative technique.
Saskia also works as a freelance filmmaker largely in the fashion and Arts industries, working for clients such as Man About Town Magazine (UK), Dazed Magazine (UK), Novembre Magazine (Switzerland), ID Magazine (UK), Nike (Paris, Berlin), ICA (UK), Topsafe TV (UK), Fashion East (UK), John Skelton (UK), Gut Magazine (UK), Helena Manzano (UK), Andra Dumitrascu (Berlin) and has assisted on commercial shoots for the likes of Hugo Boss (Germany), Barbie (UK), McQ (UK) and Topshop (UK).
