National Careers Week 2020 launched today, aiming to promote the importance of good careers education in schools and colleges.
Highlighting the various career pathways and options available to young people is vital to ensuring that the screen industries continue to work towards greater inclusivity and representation.
ScreenSkills works closely with industry to ensure that our job profiles are up-to-date and reflect the multitude of careers on offer, enabling young people and career-changers to research and make informed decisions.
National Careers Week follows the success of last year’s Discover! Creative Careers week and the broader Creative Careers Programme, where ScreenSkills partnered with Creative & Cultural Skill and the Creative Industries Federation to open up the creative industries to more young people.
To date, the Creative Careers Programme has seen 92,000 young people engage with around 1,000 employers – this included 27,000 students engaging with hands-on work experience, 350 work experience placements of between one and two weeks, and 64,000 students hearing from creative speakers.
Additionally, the programme has leveraged more than £8 million from industry in revenue and in-kind contributions and created 12 new apprenticeship standards to launch this year.
