We are delighted that so many productions that paid into our skills funds – supporting training for the industry – are in the running for awards at the 2020 BAFTA Awards.
Due to the lockdown, the annual ceremonies have been moved from April to 17 July for television craft and 31 July for television.
The ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund is again supporting the vital work of crew in production by sponsoring the photography and lighting: fiction craft award. Chernobyl will go head-to-head with The Crown and Top Boy for this BAFTA.
With 14 nominations, Chernobyl is a top contender for honours. It will compete against The Virtues, The Victim and A Confession in the category best mini-series and has also received nominations in several craft categories including hair and make-up, production design and special, visual and graphic effects.
The Crown and Fleabag are both in the running for seven awards, closely followed by Giri/Haji which has been nominated six times.
Television Skills Fund-contributors BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5 will also be well-represented at both ceremonies with nominations for productions including Ranganation and Celebrity Gogglebox.
