Factual production management: introduction

This is a one-day course covering the basic skills required to be an effective production manager (PM) on a documentary or factual programme. The course will cover scheduling, budgeting, working with a team and cost reports, using case studies and practical exercises to help you understand the many roles and responsibilities of the PM.

Course content

You’ll learn about how to draw up a production schedule and how to deal with camera crews and other contractors. The course also covers managing a budget, doing cost reports and understanding compliance. Areas covered include:

  • production roles
  • managing a team
  • drawing up a shooting schedule
  • production budgets
  • cost reports and delivery paperwork
  • case histories

Who it's for

This is an introductory course aimed at production co-ordinators and people who are starting to take on a PM role.
