The Favourite remains the favourite as BAFTA nominations were announced today, along with recognition for a host of other films who contributed to the ScreenSkills Film Skills Fund.
The Favourite, which received 12 nominations is joined by Beast and Stan & Ollie in contention for outstanding British film and is also shortlisted in the best film category.
Other shortlisted productions that contributed to the Film Skills Fund – commonly known as the levy – and, in many cases, offered training opportunities to new talent include: You Were Never Really Here, Apostasy, Ray & Liz, Mary Queen of Scots, Mary Poppins Returns, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Avengers: Infinity War, Isle of Dogs and Ready Player One.
The BAFTA ceremony will take place on February 10 at the Royal Albert Hall in London and will be broadcast on BBC One. Joanna Lumley will once again host the event.
Contributions to the Film Skills Fund are based a percentage of UK production spend and capped. Paying is obligatory for productions in receipt of public funding and encouraged from all others.
Last year, £937,000 was raised and invested in skills and training, including initiatives designed to open up the UK industry to under-represented groups.
