The hugely successful Return to Work in Post and VFX scheme returns in 2020 with applications open now.
Funded by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions, the programme has been designed to help professionals re-enter the post and VFX sectors following a career break and address an industry skills shortage. It is delivered by Film London.
It aims to attract parents who have had a career break due to childcare and carers who have left the industry to look after relatives. Applications are welcome from groups currently under-represented in the industry, including women, those from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and disabled people.
The programme will take place between January and July 2020, with places for 10 returners.,. Leading post and VFX companies from across the UK who are looking to take a returner will include Molinare, Technicolour, Outpost, Jellyfish Pictures, Splice and Bait Studio.
Timings of the returnships will be agreed on an individual basis depending on availability of candidates and companies throughout the training period.
ScreenSkills Director of High-end TV Kaye Elliott says: “The High-end TV Skills Fund is delighted to fund a new edition of the Post and VFX Return to Work scheme, following the success of last year’s programme. The VFX and post-production industry is developing at a rapid rate, which means those wishing to return to a career after a break, need to get up to speed on these developments in order to ensure a successful return to the industry. This programme provides them with these tools as well as the ability to renew and build new contacts.“
More information on how to apply for the Return to Work scheme can be found here. The deadline for applications is Monday 13 January 2020.
