26th August 2020
Trainees on the 20/21 High-end TV Trainee Finder scheme have started placements on high-end television and children’s TV productions.
Many productions that had committed to supporting trainees prior to lockdown have now been able to take them back onto their shoots and many new enquiries for trainees have also been made by High-end TV Skills Fund contributors who have started pre-production.
We are happy to be working with around 30 productions that are shooting across the UK and abroad - including Code 404 (Kudos), Ridley Road (Red Productions), Death in Paradise (Red Planet Pictures), Britannia (Vertigo Films), The Pursuit of Love (Moonage Pictures) and Secret Life of Boys (Zodiak Kids) - who have taken on trainees in their camera, location, art, costume and hair and make-up departments.
Productions that contribute to the High-end TV Skills Fund are able to access the ScreenSkills pool of 112 Trainee Finder trainees across nine departments..
The placements follow an online induction which was delivered across up to three sessions per week between March and August. Trainees were able to benefit from seminars on topics including finance for freelancers, maximising potential around social media, safe management of productions and production essentials.
They have also been able to connect with alumni and peers via drop-in sessions on Zoom, received one on one feedback on their CVs and were offered counselling support from Solas Minds.
Please contact senior high-end TV new entrant manager Nicky Ball for further information if you would like to support a trainee on your production.
