The government has announced the composition of more employer panels that will design the content of new T-level qualifications. Each panel, made up of leading industry practitioners, will bring their industry expertise to advise and develop the outline content for these new vocational qualifications, which will provide a technical alternative to the more academic A-level qualification for post-16-year-olds.
Amy Smith, Head of Talent at leading UK visual effects company Framestore, has been appointed to chair the panel that is developing the new media, Broadcasting and Productions T-level.
Commenting on her appointment, Amy said, "The visual effects, games and animation industries represent some of the most rapidly developing and valuable skills to the UK economy. Ensuring that we are encouraging young people of all backgrounds and levels to develop skills for our sector will be crucial to our continuing success and to the success of UK Plc.
"I am thrilled to have been appointed as Chair of the Media, Broadcast and Production employer panel as this is a unique opportunity to develop qualifications for our sector and to help young people to gain the skills that they need for the future."
Mark Heholt, Head of Policy at ScreenSkills, said: "We’re delighted that screen industry experts of the calibre of Amy, Neil and Phil, with whom we have worked for many years, are leading and participating in the panel to help develop this new T-level qualification. We’re hopeful that the new qualification becomes a practical and industry-relevant pathway to a career in the screen industry.
