Apply now for boot camps in Yorkshire

Prospective new entrants into the screen industry can apply now to join free film boot camps that will be held in Bradford and York in January 2019. The boot camps are aimed at individuals who are interested in a career in the screen industry but who have yet to convert that interest into a regular stream of work.

The boot camps will be delivered by Screen Yorkshire and are free to attend thanks to support from ScreenSkills using National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.

The three-day events will enable talent to experience what it is like to work on set and aims to equip them with skills that will help secure future employment. Participants will learn about different industry departments from successful professionals and they will participate in a CV and networking workshop.

ScreenSkills Head of Film Gareth Ellis-Unwin says: “We are really pleased to be supporting this boot camp and helping find new talent in Yorkshire and the Humber. We have found boot camps like these to be a very effective introduction to the screen industries, both for new entrants and for those interested in transferring their skills from other sectors.”

The camps are yet another exciting opportunity for the screen industry in Yorkshire and the Humber, following the nomination of the region as the pilot area for the ScreenSkills Centre of Excellence initiative, the recent announcement of a new Screen Yorkshire Film Office and the decision of Channel 4 to relocate its national headquarters to Leeds.

Applications for the boot camps are open until 17 December. Find out more here.
