Workshop: Is mentoring for me?

  • When: 30th Jun, 10:00 - 3rd Jul 2020, 11:30
  • Organised by: ScreenSkills
  • Location: Online
  • Price: Free
  • Age: 18+

Want to know more about the ScreenSkills Mentoring Network and how getting involved – as a mentor or a mentee – could benefit your career?

This online series will give you all the information you need. In three sessions  across three days, we will cover

  • Tues 30 June 10am – 11am: what mentoring is and what the ScreenSkills team can offer you
  • Weds 1 July 10am, 12pm, 3pm: three short case-studies from people who have taken part in mentoring partnerships across the UK and different sectors (each session 30 mins)
  • Fri 3 July 10am – 11:30: what you can bring to mentoring to give and get the best from it, and how to get involved

This online event is open to all career levels and is hosted by the ScreenSkills mentoring team.

You don’t need to be an expert to be a mentor. Whether you’re new to the industry, returning after a break (for example, as a parent or carer) or an experienced professional, you can benefit from being a mentor or a mentee.

Benefits of mentoring for both parties include:

  • seeing things from another’s perspective
  • increasing your network
  • giving and receiving feedback
  • developing communication skills
  • learn from the ideas and experiences of someone who is different from you
  • using your creativity

Mentoring works just as well virtually as meeting in person, so there are no geographical barriers, wherever you are based in the UK: particularly useful when many of us are working from home.

ScreenSkills has established the ScreenSkills Mentoring Network supported by the BFI with funds from the National Lottery under the BFI’s Future Film Skills Strategy.

This session will take place online via Zoom. Click ‘get ticket’ to reserve your place: you must login or register before you are able to get a ticket for this event. A booking confirmation with a joining link to the session will be sent to you via email.

If you are no longer able to use your ticket, we ask you to please contact support@screenskills.com so that we can release your place. Our sessions are often oversubscribed, so we’d like to give other freelancers the opportunity to fill available spots. Thank you for your consideration.
