Lunch with a Commissioner: Sioned Wyn Roberts, Commissioner for Children’s and Learning, S4C

  • When: 10th Jun 2020, 13:00-14:00
  • Organised by: ScreenSkills
  • Location: Online
  • Price: Free
  • Age: 18+

Grab your homemade sandwich of choice and get ready to dine with a different commissioner every day. At 1pm from Monday to Friday, participants will be able to join a commissioner and listen to their insights as well as ask questions at the end of the hour.

These are great sessions for our freelance community who don’t normally get the opportunity to chat to commissioners. So, if you’re a head honcho who normally has all the commissioners on speed-dial this session isn’t for you! Please keep this in mind when booking. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Sioned Wyn Roberts commissions all children’s content on S4C’s pre-school brand Cyw, children’s brand Stwnsh and youth content. Since joining S4C in 2012, she has commissioned innovative projects - from the first play-along gameshow to a series introducing Makaton in Welsh. Recent hits include pre-school drama Deian a Loli and innovative kids’ entertainment format Prosiect Z. Both won major awards in 2019.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, speedy commissioning and fast turnaround has been essential. Within days, Sioned had commissioned two series based on life in lockdown with kids filming their own content. Educational content, learning app, news, songs and poems have also been commissioned to help children during the crisis.

This event is supported by the ScreenSkills Children’s TV Skills Fund thanks to contributions from the industry and by the ScreenSkills Television Skills Fund thanks to contributions from the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
