Post-production is all the work done on a film or programme after recording has finished. This includes creative roles like editing, sound design and colouring as well as admin and bookings, supervision and technical roles like subtitling, projection and DVD encoding. The most famous entry-level role in post-production is the runner: a combination of waiter, cleaner, handyman and messenger, runners fetch tea and do other menial jobs - but all while learning the post-production trade. A good runner can find themselves moving up the department quickly.
