The challenges of this year -  Covid-19 , post-traumatic stress, social distancing and all the uncertainties around this - have had a considerable impact on mental health. With the festive season around the corner, this session will focus support, resilience and self-care at a time that will likely be difficult for many.

This workshop is funded by  the HETV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions. It was designed by Sarah McCaffrey, founder of Solas Mind, who combined her extensive knowledge of  the film and media with her experience as a qualified psychotherapist (MBACP) to offer bespoke mental health support and guidance and training counselling  to productions and freelancers in the television industry.

Who it's for

This 1 hour session is for freelancers working in HETV who would like to understand more about where mental health comes from and how unhelpful thinking patterns can influence our resilience.

Due to overwhelming response, we have scheduled further opportunities to take this session. If you have already applied to the original date, you are free to also apply to later sessions to increase your chances of being allocated a place (only one place will be allocated per participant).

What it covers

This course will look at the impact of Covid-19. It will examine our thought processes and will offer tools that can enhance resilient thinking, showing how implementing positive changes can enhance personal growth and the resilience that is so needed at this time.

The workshop goals will be:

  • An understanding where mental health comes from
  • greater awareness of our own cognitive distortions
  • an understanding of what resilience is and what this means to us personally
  • learning how by challenging our thinking, we can enhance our resilience
  • an exploration of options to help increase resilience
  • to take away some practical self-care tips and suggestions to help going forward

This session will take place online via Zoom. Click ‘apply for ticket’ and follow the instructions to apply for your place: you must login or register before you are able to complete your application.
