The making of... is a strand of masterclasses goes behind the scenes of some of Britain’s most popular and critically acclaimed tv series. Members of the programme’s key production team will discuss the mechanics of making the series plus some of the challenges they had to face along the way. Followed by audience questions, you will get to ask the makers of some of your favourite programmes, how they did it.

Speakers

As Director of Programmes Rob Butterfield is a key member of the creative team. In charge of all shows Ricochet has in production, he has helped devise many of its successful returning series. Rob first joined Ricochet in 2004 working on shows including Selling Houses for Channel 4, and How Not to Decorate and Breaking into Tesco for Channel 5. He also developed and ran all ten series of Cowboy Builders for Channel 5. More recently he has been executive producer on many of Ricochet’s returning series including Food Unwrapped on C4, The Bidding Room on BBC1 and the RTS and Rose d’Or award-winning The Repair Shop also on BBC1.

 

Sandy Watson is an executive producer at Ricochet, currently overseeing Food Unwrapped and Sun, Sea and Selling Houses for Channel 4. In a previous London-based life, he worked for LWT/Granada factual on a range of factual and factual entertainment series, including Celebrity Fit Club, Come Dine with Me, Airline and Pride of Britain, before heading to the coast in 2008, and an eventual job at Ricochet, where series producer/series editor credits include The Repair Shop, Mr Drew’s School For Boys, Cowboy Traders and Family Finders.

 

Nicola Ollivere is a producer director on Food Unwrapped. Coming into TV 5 years ago after a big career change, she started as a runner on BBC1’s Family Finders, before becoming a location assistant on Cowboy Builders for Channel 5. Shortly after, she took on the role of location assistant on Food Unwrapped, and over the last four years has worked her way up the editorial path as a researcher, assistant producer and now producer director, racking up over 150 shoots across 20 different countries. Other credits include My Houseful of Animals for Channel 5, The One Show for BBC, and most recently edit producer on Food Unwrapped.

This event is supported by the ScreenSkills Television Skills Fund which invests in training for the freelance television workforce thanks to contributions from the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

It is part of a ScreenSkills programme managed by the Indie Training Fund to support freelancers to upskill and stay connected, helping keep the industry resilient in these difficult times.
