We welcome Glasgow-based Two Rivers CEO Alan Clements to talk about the growing market of Nations and Regions TV content - and how you can be a part of it.

Our industry has been criticised in the past for limiting many jobs and genres to the London area, forcing freelancers to look for work out of their home regions. Things are changing rapidly though. Channel 4 have just moved a large chunk of their commissioning team to regional hubs and last year the BBC commissioned 57% of its content from indies with a strong Nations and Regions presence. Are things changing rapidly enough? And could this be the time to up sticks and join the growing number of TV freelancers working and living beyond the South-East of England?

In this open online Q & A session, you can ask Alan anything you want to know about getting into the industry and staying in work when you’re based outside of London.

Speaker

Alan Clements set up Two Rivers Media in 2018 and he quickly began winning commissions such as Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend (C4), Frankie Boyle Live (BBC2) and Becoming Scotland (BBC Scotland). Prior to this, he ran STV Productions where they produced Catchphrase (ITV), Antiques Road Trip (BBC1) and Safeword (ITV2 and MTV). Before this he was Creative Director of IWC Media, the producers of Location Location Location (C4) and Extreme Fishing with Robson Green (C5). He is an Honorary Professor of Politics and Media at the University of Glasgow, sits on the Board of the Edinburgh TV Festival and is the author of two books including the novel Rogue Nation, published in 2008. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Edinburgh Napier University in 2014 for services to Journalism and Television.
