BT Sport COO Jamie Hindhaugh has turned to high-tech solutions and a virtual studio to create live content without compromising staff safety during the Covid crisis which has particularly hit sports broadcasting.

In this conversation with broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove, Jamie will lift the lid on how pioneering technology including the use of remote production has been deployed in recent weeks.

He will also outline what this might mean for TV sport in future and how these new ways of working will have a wider impact including for diversifying the workforce as the ability to perform certain roles at home could open the door for a more diverse workforce.

BT Sport is the most powerful new rights holder to enter televised sport in the past decade. It has secured access to the world's biggest sporting leagues and major events.  These include the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, Scottish Premiership, boxing and mixed martial arts.

Speaker

Jamie Hindhaugh is the Chief Operating Officer at BT Sports.

Jamie joined BT Sport in October 2012 as Chief Operating Officer to build the infrastructure, broadcast chain and operating model for the launch of BT Sport. In August 2013 BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and BT Sport ESPN started broadcasting from the brand new purpose built studio facility on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

From 1st August 2015 the BT Sport offering has been expanded to 13 channel outlets to deliver the exclusive UEFA Champions League and Europa League coverage, as well as the launch of Europe’s first 4k UHD sports channel.

Jamie started his TV career as a transport coordinator at the BBC.  Since then he has had many roles in the BBC including Head of Sourcing Production Resources and culminating as the Head of Production L2012 responsible for the BBC’s multiplatform coverage of the Olympics, Paralympics and other key national events in 2012.

Jamie will be in conversation with session chair Stuart Cosgrove, journalist, broadcaster and television executive.
