Equality and inclusion essentials... with Addie Orfila

As part of our ‘Your life at work’ strand, we're offering training aimed at sharing workplace best practice as well as how you and your teams can stay healthy, happy, and productive at work. 

Inclusion is imperative. 

This 90-minute workshop covers the essential elements for an inclusive workforce. 

We will cover how to mitigate against  "Like Bias" and how to ensure fair process when crewing up.  

We will also look at the Equality Act - and how it is relevant to production and we will unpack some common microbehaviours and discuss how we all have a part to play. 
 
This course is a pragmatic and pro-active approach to make a lasting difference. 

Who it's for

Anyone in unscripted TV, particular those working in HR and management positions.

The majority of the USF online short course offering is for those at early career stage and above. As a result, we generally require applicants to have at least 3 credits (unless working in a traditionally uncredited role). If you strongly feel you would still benefit from the training, please email USF@screenskills.com so we can assess if an exception should be made.

Speaker

Addie Orfila is the former head of production at award-winning serial drama Hollyoaks, Addie Orfila has over 20 years experience within TV and short film production.

Starting as a trainee continuity announcer and then runner at Yorkshire Television, Addie has worked her way up as third assistant director, first assistant director, production manager and head of production.  She has worked on three out of the four big UK serial dramas and was production manager at Coronation Street for a very successful tenure. 

Having worked on shows such as Heartbeat, Touch of Frost, Countdown, My Parent’s are Aliens, Emmerdale, Barking and Jinx, Addie has a large wealth of experience to draw from and is currently a member of Channel 4’s Mentoring Diversity Network as well as trainer on the pan-industry Project Diamond diversity monitoring scheme.
